Henriette Stenkvist Breaks Swedish National Record in 200 Meter Backstroke!

On the final night of the 2010 Austin Grand Prix, Henriette Stenkvist defeated several world class athletes including Katie Hoff and current American Record Holder Margaret Hoelzer to win the 200 Meter Backstroke. On March 2nd thru March7th, 37 RSA swimmers took a team travel trip to Austin, TX for the Austin Grand Prix. The Austin Grand Prix this year was a star-studded affair with Natalie Coughlin, Katie Hoff, Garrett Weber-Gale and Aaron Piersol in attendance amongst many others. RSA swimmers showed that they felt right at home with the best by setting 18 RSA Team Records, 8 North Carolina Swimming Records and 1 Swedish National Record!

Congratulations to OIivia Carter, Cynthia Li, Kate Moore, Rebecca Ssengonzi, Stephanie Ding, Melissa Ortega, Seth Maslowski, Gavin McCulloch, Will Ritchie, Jon Roach, Hannah Moore, Victoria Tschoke and Bailey Maloney for qualifying to North Carolina Swimming's Select Camp!  Swimmers qualified for the camp by finishing in the Top 5 at the Age Group Championships Thursday, February 18th thru Sunday, February 21st.

After the 1st day of the Age Group Championships, Thursday, February 18th thru Sunday, February 21st, RSA found itself in a tie for 4th place. Receiving a push due to a North Carolina Swimming Record Breaking Relay, 8 more Event Winners throughout the weekend, a 10&U Women’s High Point Award Winner and 6 RSA Team Records; RSA was able to lock up a 2nd place finish for the 2nd straight year!

Despite receiving a snowfall that canceled many other events around the Triangle Area; RSA swimmers either took advantage of the extra hour of sleep or braved the weather in order for more swimmers to swim to Championships Cuts/New RSA Top Ten Times &/Or Personal Best Times during the Qualifier Feb. 12th-14th!

Though the weather outside has been frightful, the swimming at MOR’s Snowflake Meet on Feb. 6th & 7th was delightful!  As Snowflakes fell and the temperature got colder outside the pool, RSA swim times also dropped inside the pool!

RSA IN MAY is a pre-summer stroke clinic and a swim camp for summer league and potential summer league swimmers. All four competitive strokes, starts, and turns will be taught by our certified RSA Coaching Staff. The swim clinic will be held at the Triangle Aquatic Center (TAC) in Cary.
