| NC Open Water Champs Deadline |

Coach Tammy will be taking a group to the NC Open Water State Championships June 7-8 at Seven Lakes, Lake Echo, West End NC.
The deadline to let Coach Tammy know if you want to attend is May 13. All of those interested must email Coach Tammy by this date.

RSA In MAY 2008 Summer Stroke Clinic
RSA in May is a pre-summer stroke clinic and camp for summer league and potential summer league swimmers. All four competitive strokes, starts, and turns will be taught by our certified RSA Coaching Staff. The swim clinic will be held at the NEW Triangle Aquatic Center (TAC) in Cary behind the Cary Towne Center Mall.
Three Sessions are offered and are filling up quickly. If your swimmers wants a jump on the competition send in your clinic registration NOW!

| RSA's Torey Bussey Makes Olympic Trial Cut! |

Great swimming continues for RSA at Junior Nationals!
Congrats to Torrey Bussey for earning her first Olympic Trial qualifying time this afternoon in a time trial. Torrey swam a 1:11.95 to better the standard of 1:12.59.
This was a significant drop from last night's 1:13.05 which was also a tremendous lifetime best for Torrey. Congrats!

| RSA Shines at Juniors! |

RSA had a great night at Juniors in Orlando! Hannah Caron led us off with a scoring swim in the 100free and then Torrey Bussey lit up her bonus heat of the 100 breaststroke with a LTB of 1:13.05 (a 5 second drop) and a near-miss of the Olympic Trial cut by 46/100 of a second. This time was also a new automatic 2008 Summer Junior Championship time. Sarah Henry added a great 1:12 breaststroke time in the consol heat. Henriette Stenkvist then won her bonus heat of the 200 backstroke with a LTB of 2:19.71 (a 10+ second drop) and a new RSA 13-14 and new RSA Open women's record in the 200 backstroke and a new automatic 2008 Summer Junior Championship qualifying time. Phil Arve and Hannah Caron added scoring swims in the 200 fly. The RSA women then recorded a 2nd place finish in the 800 free relay, smashing the team record for open women by 10+ seconds and finishing with a 8:27.48. Leading off that relay was Sarah Henry who recorded a LTB of 2:04.28 and also set RSA 15-16 and RSA Open Women records in the 200 freestyle. The rest of the relay was: Henriette Stenkvist (2:08.3 - an 11 second drop from her previous best), Torrey Bussey (2:08.7 - another 11 second drop from her previous best) and Hannah Caron (2:06.2). Great job everyone and we look forward to another great day tomorrow!

| Locker Rentals at TAC |

TAC now offers annual locker rentals. Many of the parents have asked about this for their swimmers and some have asked about sharing a locker between a couple swimmers which is fine. $120 Annually - pro-rated at purchase. Expires 12/31/2008. See forms and docs for a document.

| Dupree Sets 5 American Records |

Congratulations to RSA athlete Tucker Dupree who competed in the 2007 U.S. Paralympics CanAm Open in College Park, Maryland this weekend. Tucker won gold in all 6 of his individual events for the S12 classification and achieved 5 personal best times - all of which were new American records. Tucker will be competing in April in Minneapolis at the Paralympic trials meet to earn a place on the US team in Beijing.

RSA athletes enjoyed a record-setting year in 2006-2007 - breaking a total of 52 team records and 10 North Carolina Swimming LSC records. 15 different athletes contributed to these record-breaking performances! Some of these records had stood for more than a decade.

| RSA Wins Trick or Treat Meet! |

Congratulations to all of the RSA athletes who competed in the first RSA vs. THAT Trick or Treat Dual Meet! RSA athletes achieved a number of new personal best times and first time swims. The RSA win was truly a team effort - with 14 RSA event winning athletes and a total of 73 individual RSA athletes scoring in the Top 8. 20 RSA Athletes also swam 100% lifetime best times at this season-opening meet.

| RSA Athletes Qualify for 2008 Olympic Trials |

The Raleigh Swimming Association is competing at the Speedo Sectional Championship in Auburn, Alabama this week. Thursday morning Hannah Caron qualified for the 2008 US Olympic Trials in the 200 meter individual medley. Thursday evening Sarah Henry also qualified for Olympic Trials in the 200 IM and earned a spot on the 2007-2008 United States National Junior Team. The National Junior Team will compete in Australia in January of 2008. Athletes swimming in finals Thursday night included:
Hannah Caron - 200IM (6th) and 200 fly (10th)
Sarah Henry - 200IM (3rd)
Melanie Roberts - 200IM (9th)
Julie Smith - 200IM (32nd)
Philip Arve - 200 fly (30th)
Eric Caron - 200IM (11th)
Will Dove - 200fly (10th)
Claire Caron - 200fly (31st)
Competition continues through Sunday. Congratulations to all participants.

| RSA ATHLETES WIN 15 EVENTS AT CAPITAL CITY! |

Led by 10 year-old Michael Harr who won four individual events, RSA athletes won 15 total events at the Capital City meet this past weekend at Optimist Park in Raleigh. 14 RSA athletes swam 100 % best times at this meet.

| RSA: A USA Swimming GOLD MEDAL Club! |

The Raleigh Swimming Association joined the elite of United States Swimming by obtaining Gold Medal status in USA Swimming's Club Excellence program for the 2004-2005 season. For the third year in a row RSA significantly improved its total points score and ranking from 38th in 2002-2003, to 27th in 2003-2004, and finally to 12th in 2004-2005. This improvement allowed RSA to break into the top sixteen and achieve the GOLD Medal Club of Excellence distinction from United States Swimming.
