RSA's 800 free relays finished 5th (women) and 6th (men) to help lead RSA to 5th-place in the standings after the first day of competition at the Senior Sectionals Championships.

Andy Lamb's 1:39.44 split on the 800 free relay led the way as Lamb, Michael Williams, Dylan Kab, and Andrew Henry earned a 6th-place finish.  Michael earned his 3rd Junior National qualifying team by virtue of his 1:42 lead-off leg while Denniz Gurel earned his first Junior National cut leading off the B in 1:42 as well.  The relay's 6:48.92 time approached the RSA team record.

The women's relay (7:28.38) finished 5th and established new RSA records for 18&under women and Open women while also establishing a new NCS 18&under women's record in the process.

In the individual races, we were led by Sarah Henry's shattering of the existing 1000 records for 15-18 women and Open Women - her time of 9:38.30 was a new NCS record and new RSA record.

Jessie Godlewski earned her second JR cut with a 10-second drop in the 1000 to 10:20.  Tessa Pena and Matthew Newland recorded LTB's in the 1000's.  Henry Roach was only 1 second off his LTB in the 1000 despite recent knee surgery.

Great start to the meet!

Day 2

RSA stands 5th with 196 points after day 2 of Senior Sectionals.   Sarah Henry won the 400im in record time.  Andy Lamb finished 8th in the 200 free with the first sub-1:40 200free (1:39.76) in many years at RSA.  Torrey Bussey scored in the 100breast and 400IM.  The women's 400 free relay of Henriette Stenkvist, Sarah Henry, Kristyn Repke, and Claire Nobles equaled the men's quartet of Michael Williams, Denniz Gurel, Andy Lamb, and Dylan Kab with 5th-place finishes.   Andy's split of 44.6 on the relay was outstanding.

Day 3&4

RSA finished 5th with 416 points, only 2 behind Dynamo of Atlanta, at the 2009 SCY ESSZ Sectionals.  Only 2nd-place MAC was ahead of us among NCS teams. MOR was 7th with 211 points and New WAVE was 10th with 159 points from the triangle area teams.

Sarah Henry won the women's 200fly, 200breast and 500free on Saturday night in a very grueling event triple, including a new RSA and NCS record in the 200 breast of 2:10.79.  Sarah also won the 200IM and was the high point winner for the entire meet.

Andy Lamb recorded a new RSA 17-18 and Open men record in the 100backstroke of 49.19 (4th) .  Andy also recorded scoring LTB's in the 50 and 100 free this weekend.

Henriette Stenkvist set a new RSA and NCS record in the 200 backstroke of 1:57.28 while finishing in the event.

Torrey Bussey narrowly missed the RSA 15-16 women's 200im record by .01 with her 2:00.55 3rd-place performance.  Torrey also recorded a World Championship Team Trial qualifying time of 2:14.18 in the 200 breaststroke.

Michael Williams scored in the 100free tonight, moving up from a tie for 17th to 13th.

The women's 400 medley relay of Henriette, Torrey, Sarah, and Kristyn Repke eclipsed our own RSA and NCS record in the 400 medley relay with a 3:45.46 performance, good for 3rd-place.   The men's quartet of Andy, Seth Connor, Wayne Erb, and Michael Williams finished 9th.

Andrew Henry regained his 13-14 men's 200im RSA record tonight in a time trial swim against arch-RSA-rival Jose Chavez in the final scy installment of their 200im showdown.  They have traded the record 4 times this season - Andrew's ultimate time of 1:54.?? (no time trial results available) and Jose's 1:55 were new first-time junior national standards for both athletes.   Jessie Godlewski also recorded a new Jr cut in the 200 back this morning.
