RSA senior Keary McClernan has verbally committed to attend Northeastern in Boston. Keary will swim for the Huskies and looks forward to living in Boston and is, in her words, "super excited" about the prospect. Congrats on the decision and we will cheer you on from here in NC.
Keary joins Andy Lamb (Utah) and Katie Lehman (Indiana University of Pennsylvania) as RSA seniors with swimming and academic destinations for the fall of 2009. We expect more decisions in the spring as our remaining seniors make their decisions.
RSA alums Melanie Roberts and Will Dove (both at Auburn) are competing at the SEC championships in Auburn this weekend. RSA alum Kimmy Davis led off the UNC record-setting 200 medley relay tongiht at the ACC championships in College Park, MD. http://tarheelblue.cstv.com/sports/c-swim/recaps/021809aab.html She is joined at the meet by Maryland sophomore and RSA alum Blair Cross. Alums Alan Cox (Savannah College of Art & Design) and Phil Arve (Missouri A&T) had their conference meets last weekend and advanced to their respective national meets. Claire Caron (Minnesota State-Moorhead) has her conference meet this weekend at the NSIC Champs in Omaha, NE. Hannah Caron (Utah) and Hannah Facchine (Deleware) and Jared Underwood (ECU) and Bud McClernan (Westchester) all have their conference meets upcoming and we will try to keep everyone in the loop on their successes.
Will Dove swam a 1:35.0 leg of the 800 free relay last night helping Auburn to the victory in the event and an NCAA A cut. Will is also the third seed going into tonight's finals in the 500 with a LTB 4:18.8 this morning. Melanie Roberts got her SEC championships off to a great start with a LTB 1:58.5 200im this morning, qualifying 6th for tonight. Check back here for updates throughout the weekend.
