RSA was in front after Thursday evening's distance events and maintained the advantage after this afternoon's 10 & under timed final events.  RSA has 215.5 points, ahead of YOTA (185), MOR (178), NCAC (173.5), STAR (147) and MAC (121).

Scoring points for RSA in Thursday evening and Friday afternoon's events: Claire Nobles, Andrew Henry, Hannah Moore, Melissa Ortega, Rachel Hatt, Jordyn Barham, Kate Moore, Cynthia Li, Lindsay Hatt, Olivia Hair, Jethro Ssengonzi, Nicole Webb, and Shane Humphrey.

Shane Humphrey won the 10&under boys 100 yard butterfly.

RSA has 21 swimmers in the scoring finals tonight and some very strong relays tonight as well. Great job RSA athletes - we are cheering you on from Wake County.

RSA sits in 2nd place with 610 points behind only MAC's 649.5 after day 2 of the 2009 NCS scy JO Championships.  Andrew Henry won 2 events at Friday night's finals (and nearly won a third) while establishing new RSA 13-14 men's records in the 200 free (1:43.78), 100 breaststroke (1:01.07) and 400IM (4:09.84).   The 11-12 women's 400 medley relay of Hannah Moore, Rachel Hatt, Megan Owens, and Jordyn Barham established a new RSA record with their clocking of 4:14.53, breaking a 6 year-old record.   The 11-12 men's relay missed the RSA record by a scant .39 seconds.   RSA athletes stepped up with big improvements in the evening session, earning a number of best times.

RSA added scoring contributions from the following athletes in Friday evenings finals session:  Michael Harr, Seth Maslowski, Maddie Witzke, Ben Mayes, Erica Hoff, Jennifer Li, Allison Gupton, Jackson Richards, Chris Daniels, Will Ritchie, Jon Roach, Thomas Bell, Gavin McCulloch, Victoria Tschoke, Meredith Rawls, MJ Densmore, Kristin Connors, Kendall Pena, Alyssa Sperlazza, Matt Wallace, and Alex Matthews.

RSA ended up with 1950 points, about 400 shy of MAC but easily clear of NCAC to secure a 2nd-place finish at the 2009 scy NCS JO meet in Huntersville.

Leading the way for RSA was Andrew Henry with individual titles in the 100-200free, 200br, 200bk, and 200-400im.  Andrew set new RSA 13-14 records in the 200 free (1:43.78), 500 free (4:42.45), 100 breast ( 1:01.07), 200 breast (2:09.92), and 400IM (4:09.84).  Andrew's 200 breaststroke swim was also a new NCS 13-14 men's record.

Victoria Tschoke also starred for RSA with individual titles in the 100-200backstroke and earned her first junior national cut with a 59.0 backstroke victory.

Claire Nobles, Victoria Tschoke, Andrew Henry, Hannah Moore, Michael Harr, Seth Maslowski, Jethro Ssengonzi, Shane Humphrey, Cynthia Li, Olivia Hair, Jordyn Barham, and Lindsay Hatt all earned NCS Select Camp berths with their top-5 finishes at JO's.

A full meet write-up will follow later this week - congrats to all the athletes who participated!  This was a great weekend for RSA and coupled with our 2nd-place finish at Senior Champs a good showing of our overall level of success.
