We are in the middle of the early-signing period for many NCAA D-I sports, including men's and women's swimming. Athletes can sign NLI's (National Letters of Intent) during a brief window in November or they may wait until April to officially receive and accept scholarship offers from Division-I Institutions. Division-II schools have more liberal signing periods and athletes can make official decisions throughout the year.
Andy Lamb, an Athens Drive student, has accepted a scholarship offer to attend the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. The Utes compete in the Mountain West Conference and are a Division-I school.
Katie Lehman, a student at Green Hope, has accepted a scholarship offer from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. The Crimson Hawks are located in Indiana, Pennsylvania and compete in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference and are a Division-II school. The school is located about sixty miles east of Pittsburgh.
Tucker Dupree will matriculate to Gardner-Webb University, a Division-I school. The Runnin' Bulldogs are located in Boiling Springs, NC and compete in the Big South Conference. GWU also competes in the Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association. Gardner-Webb is about twenty miles west of Shelby, NC. Since Tucker graduated high school already, he is eligible to enroll in the 2009 Spring semester and he will actually join the team on their Winter Holiday training trip to Florida on the 28th of December and immediately become eligible to compete during the trip and into the second semester when he will enroll academically.
