On Sat. all BB swimmers should report on deck at 7:45 AM with Warm Up starting at 8 AM. On Sat. all B/C swimmers should report on deck at 12:15 PM with warm up beginning at 12:30 PM. On Sun. the times are a little different. All BB should report on deck at 6:45 AM with warm up at 7:00 AM, and all B/C swimmers should report on deck at 11:45 AM with warm up beginning at noon. The pool is on the campus of UNC Wilmington.

What to Wear at the Meet
Please come dressed in your black RSA swim suit and a red RSA swim cap. We want to look like a team! All swimmers must wear a RSA cap. They will be distributed this week.

What to Bring to the Swim Meet

  • RSA Swim Suit
  • 2 towels per session. (They will get wet quickly)
  • Water Bottle (it will get hot so you want to drink plenty of fluids)
  • Red RSA cap
  • Sweat Suit- you want some type of sweat suit to keep warm when you are walking in and out of the building
  • Goggles- Do not forget these

Make sure that you get a good night sleep before the meet. DO NOT STAY UP REAL LATE! If you are swimming in the morning eat a light breakfast.

Saturday Practice
Practice for Sat. Oct. 12th is still on for those who are not going to Wilmington. Practice is at Pullen from 10:30 AM -11:30 AM for Minnows and Novas, while Dolphins are from 10:30 AM - noon.

Your RSA Gear Is Almost Here

All team apparel orders that were placed at RSA DAY will be at Candler for you to pick up on Wednesday or Thurs. The free cap and tee shirts will also be distributed this week to the swimmers, so make sure you come to practice!

The Next Meet: Blue Moon 12 & Under Invitational
The next meet is the Blue Moon Meet host by New Wave, and it will be held at the Triangle Sports Complex in Hillsborough, NC. The dates for the meet is Sat. Nov. 2 and Sun Nov. 3. This meet is just like the Wilmington Meet with BB and up in the morning, with B/C swimmers in the afternoon. More information and a scratch deadline will be given out this week, so keep a look out for information. This is a meet that we just decided to add due to the length of time before our next swim meet.

Looking for a Meet Director

RSA parents we are looking for a meet director for the Reindeer Meet to be held later this year at the Hillsborough Sports Complex Dec. 7-8. We need to get this meet director soon or we will not be able to host this meet for the kids. Any parents that are interested please let me know as soon as possible.

First Techo (Technique) Meet of the Season A Success!

The first techno or technique meet of the season for the minnow, nova, wahoo, and dolphin practice groups was a complete success yesterday evening. Everyone did such a great job at the meet last night. I could really see everyone concentrating on the skills that we were working on. This would have not been possible without the great parent help at the meet. Thank you parents for the help video taping the swimmers and lining them up in the correct lanes. A big thank you to Robbie Bell for helping me install the blocks for the meet, and Roman Kab for helping to set up the video equipment. Also thank you to Lochmere Swim & Tennis Club for letting us use their starting system. I will have all the results from the Techno Meet sometime next week. Great Job RSA! Keep up the excellent work.

Bubble Up!
Thank you to all parents for such a successful bubble up. Without your dedication to this club we would not be able to swim all year round. Thank you to the DeJarnette's for donating the food at the Bubble Up. That was some spread!

Technique for the Week

Dolphins
This week we will concentrate on butterfly and the little things that make us faster at the meet this coming weekend. Starts, turns, and finishes will be the main focus along with butterfly technique. We will be getting through all of the turns including IM turns, because many of you will be swimming that this weekend. Keep up the good work and come ready to listen and concentrate.

Wahoos

Turns, Starts, and finishes will be the main focus this week along with butterfly technique. Starts, turns, and finishes are the little things that we need to work on in order to be successful at a swim meet. Remember using your hips in butterfly is the most important part of the stroke. Everything starts with the kick in butterfly so concentrate on that.

Novas and Minnows
These two groups are working so hard in practice and I have been so impressed. We will continue to work on breaststroke. Having flat feet is so important in this stroke. This is a difficult stroke to learn so don't get frustrated if you do not get it the first time. Novas, we started last week working on flip turns, and we will continue that this week. Keep up the good work!

This is a really important week for all swimmers. Our first meet is right around the corner, and coming to practice will be very important, because you do not want to miss any of the new skills we are going over. Come to practice ready to work hard, listen and have fun!
