I would like to congratulate dolphin group swimmer Torrey Bussey on a great NC Age Group Championship Swim Meet this past weekend. She placed 1st in the 50 Breast, 100 IM, and 100 Breast. Torrey was 2nd in the 50 Free, 3rd in the 100 Fly, 5th in the 50 Back, and 6th in the 100 Free. Even more impressive, is that she had dramatic time drops in all of her events. RSA Adds Two Assistants to Coaching Staff!
Head Coach Dan Flack and Age Group Coach Brian Gill would like to announce the addition of two new part time assistant coaches to help out with the Raleigh Swimming Association age group program. All of us here at RSA are excited about the addition of Coach Elizabeth Roady and Coach Teegan Bussey. They will be assisting with the Minnow, Nova, Wahoo, and Dolphin practice groups. Along with the responsibility of coaching, they will also be working with the RSA Swim and Stroke School Program and the RSA In May Swim Camp and Stroke Clinic. Below are both coaches’ bios. Please read them, and welcome them to the RSA program. Coach Liz Roady Liz Roady began her competitive swimming
career when she was just three years old
at her summer recreation league inNewport NewsVirginia. When she was 6 years old she joined her
first of three USS teams and began to swim
year round. She had the opportunity
to work with many amazing coaches who helped
her to master not only stroke technique but
also her enthusiasm for swimming. Liz
was the captain of her high school swim team,
which was the number two team in the state
for girls and number one for boys.
Through her dedication to swimming for 14
years, Liz swam her way to the national level.
While she was a senior swimmer, Liz was often
seen assistant coaching the age group swimmers
on her team. She was grateful not only
for her achievements in swimming but for
all the wonderful people she met along the
way. Liz is now a Raleigh girl and attends NC State and is majoring
in Human Resource Psychology. Her main
goal when she gets out of school is unlike
that of any of her peers; Liz wants to drive
the Oscar Meyer Weinermobile!
She thinks it will be her opportunity to
travel the country in style while Coach Teegan Bussey A recent graduate of Cary High School, I am now a student at NCSU in the First Year College Program. My future college plans include studying communication and law. My swimming career began when I joined the Cary Swim Club summer league team at the age of twelve, and in recent years, I have assisted the Cary Swim Club coaches with younger team members when needed. I continued swimming throughout my high school career and was named captain and Conference MVP during my senior season. I was also a member of the RSA program for a year and a half, improving my stroke and technique during the high school season. Currently, I am a member of the NCSU Club swimming, crew, and ultimate frisbee teams. I am excited about the opportunities that RSA has to offer and I am looking forward to getting to know the parents and interacting with the swimmers. RSA Team T-Shirts are IN, FINALLY! The RSA team t-shirts are here! If you have not gotten your please talk to Coach Brian. These are t-shirts that everyone on the team should get. They were included in the registration fee at the beginning of the season. Scratch Deadline: Tarheel States The next meet for BB + swimmers will be Tarheel States on March 28-30th. The scratch deadline for Tarheel States is Tuesday, March 11th. Please email Coach Brian if you will not be attending either of these meets or will only be going one or two of the sessions. CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON IS HERE! The short course championship season is here. This is an important time of the year for all swimmers. It is important for many of you to come to practice, and work hard. Good luck to all B/C Swimmers this weekend! This means listening in practice, as well as listening when Coach Brian and Coach Meghan start talking! Please make sure that you are working on turns everytime you do more than a 25. The more you do this the better you will get at them. I am also happy to have our two new coaches. Please make Coach Liz and Coach Teegan feel welcome! Coach Brian |
