THE BUBBLE IS DOWN!!

Thank you to those parents who came out to help with bubble down! We are finally going to swim outside. Please remember that now we are outside so please bring warm clothes to put on after practices. It may be chilly. If it does thunder, we will be going to the gym for dryland practice, so please come to practice no matter what.

Goodstuff Scratch Deadline
The Goodstuff scratch deadline has past. Please email coach Brian if you will not be attending. This is the last chance! We still need volunteers to help run the meet. The volunteer sign-up poster is in the Candler lobby.

2003 Awards Banquet- This Thursday, May 8th. (NO PRACTICE FOR Nova, Wahoo, and Dolphin swimmers)
All RSA swimmers, parents, and family members are cordially invited to the 2003 Raleigh Swimming Association Awards Banquet.

The Banquet will be held at the Cary Senior Center on Thursday, May 8th, from 6:00-8:30pm. The senior center is located in Bond Park off of High House Road, between Maynard Road and Cary Parkway.
This year the banquet will be a potluck style affair.

The following groups are asked to bring the following:

Dolphins, Juniors, Pre-Seniors - Main Dish (to serve 12)
Wahoo, Novas, Minnows - Side Dish ( to serve 12)

All swimmers will receive an award, as well as special awards for the different groups and age groups.
This past season has been one of the most remarkable in the long history of RSA. Please make every effort to come out and recognize the tremendous team effort put forth by our swimmers, coaches, parents and volunteers.

SWIM- A-THON 2003
The 2003 Swim-A-Thon will take place the week of May 12th. This will be held both at Candler and Pullen, depending on your practices. Please begin to start getting pledges from people. We need 100% participation from everyone to make this a great event.

As you all know the we will be doing our swim-a-thon during the week of May 12th.  This is our last week swimming at Candler.  Here are some things to remember about the swim-a-thon

  1. This is a fund raiser that goes toward your family obligation
  2. Please start to gather up people to start pledging per lap
  3. Your swimmer has 2 hours to swim 200 laps or do as many as he/she can in that time
  4. Please have someone to count for your swimmer.
  5. We need a great turnout for this, prizes will be given out to the swimmer who can raise the most money.

Dates & Times for each of the Practice Groups

  • May 15th - Minnows, Novas, Wahoos (5:45-7:45 PM)
  • May 14th - Dolphins, Juniors (5:45-7:45 PM)
  • May 13th - Pre Seniors, Seniors (5:45-7:45 PM)

Technique for the Week
As all of you know we are now into the long course season. This means no 25's for you swimmers that are 8 & Under. Meters is longer than yards, and this means longer races for all swimmers in the summer. I like the fact that at most of these meets we can swim outside and that is great. You also may have noticed that we have started to do a lot more continuous swimming. I am trying to prepare all of you so that you are ready for some of those longer races. This is a great experience for you, and I think you will really see how it will pay off in the first long course meet. It is important for you all to attend practice so when you get in the race you will not be saying to yourself "where is the wall". While doing this longer swimming it is very important to continue to concentrate on your technique. That has been a focus of ours all year long.
