10 & Under Newsletter for Week of May 19th by Brian Gill 2003-05-19 08:09:00 Minnow, Nova, Wahoo, and Dolphin
Practice Schedule Changes As you all know we will not be practicing at Candler any more until September. For the next two weeks we will be practicing At Pullen Aquatic Center. On June 3rd our summer schedule starts. I will include the summer schedule once again in next weeks newsletter. Since we do not really have a home pool it is extremely important that you use our website as a source for information. We will put all meet entries up on the web as soon as they are completed. So please get in a habit to check the website so you are up to date on where you need to be and when. As always you can email me if you have any questions. PRACTICE SCHEDULE CHANGES FOR May 19-May

2003 SWIM- A-THON OUTSTANDING! Congratulations to all of those who participated in the swim-a-thon this past week. I was so impressed with how many laps you all swam. Some of you did not stop for the entire 200 laps or two hour time period. Remember you still have 30 days to get more pledges. Continue to gather those and hand them into me after the 30 day period. For some of you who could not make the swim-a-thon we will be having a make up date. It is TBA at this point. It will be sometime in the next two weeks. GREAT JOB RSA! Goals for the Summer: Technique for the Week To RSA Swimmers and parents: I think it is important for our swimmers to start setting some short term goals for themselves. This is mainly for the Dolphin group, but all groups are encouraged and welcome to participate. Last week in practice I talked with the Dolphin group about setting short term goals for the summer. I think that 3 different goals would be sufficient. You can have 3 different types goals: (1) a goal for RSA and long course meets; (2) what you want to do in practice (things you need to work on); (3) If you will be participating in a summer TSA league one of your goals there would be sufficient, but only one of your three. So what I would like for you to do is write down your three goals for the summer. Please make them realistic. Turn them in to coach Brian at practice by Wednesday, May 28th. Setting some goals may help the swimmers focus a little bit more on things they would like to strive for in their swimming. I will be talking to them more about this in practice. If you have any questions feel free to email me or give me a call. Thanks, Coach Brian NORTH CAROLINA OPEN WATER CHAMPIONSHIPS, SATURDAY, MAY 31ST, VASS, NC (NEAR SOUTHERN PINES) The NC Swimming Open Water Championships will be held on Saturday, May 31st In Vass, NC, near Southern Pines.
