Summer Practice Schedule Begins The RSA Summer practice schedule begins this week. Remember school is not out for the summer until Tuesday, June 3rd therefore, morning practice does not start until Tuesday. There will only be afternoon practice at Pullen from 5:45-7:00 PM. Directions to Lochmere Swim & Tennis Club From 440 & US 1 take the Cary Parkway exit. Make a left off of the exit ramp onto Cary Parkway. Go straight on Cary Parkway past the Tryon Road intersection. Make a right at the stop sign on Lochmere Drive. Lochmere Swim & Tennis Club (Lochwood Pool) is less than a half a mile on your left hand side. If you plan on attending the morning practices please make sure that you fill out a waiver to swim at Lochmere. Get these from coach Brian. Please be sure to sign in when you get to Lochmere for practice. Parents, please be sure to come in with your swimmers so you can fill the form out. They will not be allowed to do the practices unless these forms are completed. 2003 RSA Summer Practice Schedule
RSA-N Summer of Liberty Swim Meet- THIS WEEKEND, June 7-8 @ Optimist Pool The RSA North Summer of Liberty Meet is this weekend. It is the first long course meet of the season for our team. I am looking forward to seeing some really fast swimming this weekend. It should be a great time! Warm Up Times Saturday & Sunday, June 7-8 13 & ups and 11-12- Warm Up Starts at 7:00 AM (Please be ready and on deck and ready to go @ 7:00 AM) Meet Starts @ 8 AM 8 & Under and 9-10's- Warm up starts not before 12:30 (Please be ready and on deck and ready to go @ 12:30) Meet starts not before 1:30 PM NOTE TO PARENTS: Please be sure before hand that you and your swimmers know what they are swimming in the meet. Please write on there hand there event #, heat and lane. This is for each event they are swimming in the meet. By doing this it makes it easier for the swimmer to get to their event. This will be a large meet so we must make sure we have things together. The coaches do not have time to write event, heat and lane on each swimmer. We need to be able to watch each of the races! Please do not leave until you find out if you are in a relay or not. We will tell the child if they are in a relay prior to warm up. Please plan on hanging around if your swimmer is signed up for a relay. Thank you for you cooperation. Liberty Meet Entries The meet entries for the 2003 Summer of Liberty Meet are posted on the website under Meet Info. Please check to make sure that they are correct. If you have a problem with the entries please let me know ASAP. KID PUSHERS NEEDED! RSA has a lot of swimmers at this meet , so We need RSA Kid Pushers. If there are any parents that are willing to help get our 8 & Unders to the Clerk of Course for their races please let Coach Brian know. There are a lot of 8 & Unders swimming in this meet, and several relays. What to bring to the meet
The Saturday morning session will begin 1/2 hour early and the Saturday afternoon session will begin 1/2 hour later than stated in the original meet information. Thus, morning warm-ups will begin at 7:00 a.m., with the meet starting at 8:00 a.m. The afternoon warm-ups will begin immediately following the morning session, but not before 12:30, with the meet starting 1 hour after the start of warm-ups, but not before 1:30. The times for the Sunday sessions will remain unchanged. Optimist Pool has limited parking and with 500 swimmers now entered in the meet it will be impossible to accommodate everybody in the Optimist Lot. There will be space available at Sanderson High School and the adjacent baseball field parking lot for swimmers and their parents. RSAN has hired an off-duty Raleigh policeman to monitor the parking lot. If any parents who would like to serve as volunteer timers, RSAN will be happy to send them parking passes. PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOU COME AND SEE COACH BRIAN, COACH LIZ, or COACH TEEGAN AFTER EACH OF YOUR SWIMS! This is one of the times that you learn the most about your swimming. 2003 SWIM- A-THON Congratulations to all of those who participated in the swim-a-thon this past week. I was so impressed with how many laps you all swam. Some of you did not stop for the entire 200 laps or two hour time period. Remember you still have 30 days to get more pledges. Continue to gather those and hand them into me after the 30 day period. For some of you who could not make the swim-a-thon we will be having a make up date. It is TBA at this point. It will be sometime in the next two weeks. GREAT JOB RSA! Please turn your Swim-A-Thon Money into coach Brian by Thursday, June 16th. All the coaches are extremely excited about the first long course swim meet of the season. It is vital that you make practices this week if you are swimming in the Liberty Meet. Starts, turns, and finishes will be a focus. See you at practice! Coach Brian |
