10 & Under Newsletter for the Week of June 30 by Brian Gill 2003-07-02 12:31:00 Minnow, Nova, Wahoo, and Dolphin
Fourth of July Weekend I hope everyone has a happy and safe fourth of July. There will be no practice for the Minnow, Nova, Wahoo, and Dolphin practice groups on the fourth. However these will be Saturday morning practice at Pullen at the normal scheduled time. I will let you know of the importance of the long course practice. If you are in town and can make the long course practice you should try your best to attend. We do not have many more long course practices before JO Qualifier. Try to make the rest of them up until that point. Scratch DEADLINE FOR JO QUALIFIER The Scratch Deadline for the Eastern JO Qualifier has past. Coach Dan and I will be doing the entries this week. IF YOU HAVE FORGOTTEN THE SCRATCH DEADLINE PLEASE EMAIL COACH BRIAN. THIS IS YOUR LAST CHANCE. Meet information about the qualifier and for Junior Olympics are up on the web site, under meet info. Any swimmers that are close to their "A" times in any events I strongly suggest you attend this meet. We need everyone we can for Junior Olympics in High Point this year. RSA Brochures RSA Parents, the coaches are working extremely hard on recruiting this year, but we need your help. If you are not working during your summer league meets please help distribute information about the Raleigh Swimming Association to swimmers at your Tuesday night meets. The coaches cannot be everywhere at once. If you need brochure I will be happy to get you set up with a bunch. Please let me know via email (bgill@swimrsa.org) before the next Tuesday night meet so I can have to copies ready for you. Thanks, Coach Brian Summer Swimming Stoke Clinics We are getting towards the the middle of the TSA swim season and the coaches have done stroke clinics at several pools already. If any parents from there respective summer clubs could talk to their coaches or TSA reps about doing a clinic please do! This is a great way to help your club during the summer and help recruit for RSA. Have them email me at bgill@swimrsa.org. SWIM-A-THON Swim-A-Thon money is past due! The RSA coaching staff would like to remind our membership of the importance of Summer League swimming to the growth and enhancement of our program Every RSA member who participates, officiates, coaches or attends a Tuesday night meet has a great opportunity to spread the word about the benefits of RSA and year round swimming. Our coaches will make the rounds at many meets and do a series of clinics at the different clubs, but we can’t be everywhere. These Tuesday night meets are a great way for all members get involved in building our program. USA Swimming has a Code of Conduct in place and a paraphrased version of Article 304.3.13 states that no coach, owner, officer, volunteer, representative, or employee of a USA club may not recruit or encourage a swimmer of an existing USA club to become part of the acting parties affiliated club. Basically we cannot talk to another USA swimmer nor can anyone talk to RSA swimmers about being on a different team. If you suspect another area coach has had improper contact with one of our swimmers you need to notify a RSA coach immediately. This could include verbal and/or printed information about another club. Coach Brian and Coach Dan have come up with what we think is a great brochure about all the opportunities RSA has to offer. If you would like some to pass out at summer practices or at meets, please give Brian a call at 859-4881 or drop him an email bgill@swimrsa.org and he will set you up! Directions to Lochmere Swim & Tennis Club From 440 & US 1 take the Cary Parkway exit. Make a left off of the exit ramp onto Cary Parkway. Go straight on Cary Parkway past the Tryon Road intersection. Make a right at the stop sign on Lochmere Drive. Lochmere Swim & Tennis Club (Lochwood Pool) is less than a half a mile on your left hand side. If you plan on attending the morning practices please make sure that you fill out a waiver to swim at Lochmere. Get these from coach Brian. Please be sure to sign in when you get to Lochmere for practice. Parents, please be sure to come in with your swimmers so you can fill the form out. They will not be allowed to do the practices unless these forms are completed. 2003 RSA Summer Practice Schedule
