This is really a great event and an excellent opportunity for all swimmers to see some of the things that they need to improve on before the first meet of the year. I encourage all to attend. Parents like last year I will need a few that will be staying with there children to help out and keep the kids in the correct order after each event. I need to have you all help so this can be successful Please let Coach Brian know if you can help out at the TECHNO MEET.

The swimmers will be told three different skills to complete during each of the events swum. We will talk about it at practice and before the meet starts. The object is not to go fast, but work on the skills or techniques talked about prior to the meet, hence the name "TECHO MEET".

BUBBLE UP- It is TIME Once Again to Put our Dome UP
Bubble up is this weekend Oct. 4th. You will get one credit towards volunteering if you come to this event. Please we need everyone's help in putting this up. Please be at Candler around 10 AM to put it up.

Chick-fil-a Calendars

Judy Glover will be on hand at practices this week trying to help sell Chik-fil-a Calendars. This fundraisers helps us heat the bubble for the winter, and keeps down the cost. There are also parents from certain groups that are helping to sell these for the club. Our sales are down from last year so we need to make a big push at the end.

LAST CALL FOR TEAM Registration t-shirts
I am making the last call for team t-shirts. Some have not written down there sizes on the Minnow, Nova, Wahoo, and Dolphin Bulletin board. If your name is not listed it is because your t-shirt probably has already been ordered. This is the last call for sizes. I will wait until Wednesday to make the order. Please write your size down on the bulletin board if you have not done so.
We will have the shirts by next week if you have not received yours yet.

Starting to Get Cooler Outside
- BRING WARMER CLOTHES TO PRACTICE!
Fall is upon us and it is starting to get much cooler outside. Please be sure to start bringing some warm clothes before and especially after practice. This means jacket, sweat shirt and pants. A hat or hood would be great to cover your wet head. Sometimes it can be hard getting back into shape after your are sick.

What to Bring to Practice
  • Dry land clothes- this includes running shoes, t-shirt, & shorts
  • swim suit
  • goggles (do not forget these because I do not have extra for other borrow)
  • towel
  • swim caps (this is optional, although I do think that girls with long hair really need to wear one)

TECHNIQUE FOR THE WEEK
Great job this week at practice everyone. Our meets are approaching really quickly. Please be sure to attend the TECHNO Meets this week with the appropriate age group. These will help you in preparation for the first meet of the season, and help with your stroke technique. Nice job on breaststroke the past two weeks. I have really seen some great strides. Breaststroke is a difficult stroke that takes practice to be good at it. Here are some tips on swimming breaststroke
  • Make sure that your are kicking breaststroke with flat feet "up around and together. Be sure to squeeze your legs together and let your ankles touch.
  • Remember that the timing in breaststroke is important. Always breath first, this will help you start the stroke correctly.
  • Always touch the wall with two hands in breaststroke. If it is on the finish or you are doing a breaststroke turn.

We have pretty much finished up breaststroke, and now we will be moving on to backstroke. Dolphins will be finishing up breaststroke turns this week and moving on to backstroke turns. Backstroke turns are probably the most difficult so please attend practice. Wahoos will work on backstroke this week, and learn breaststroke turns. Novas will concentrate on backstroke this week, while Minnows will be continuing to get through breaststroke.

Keep up the great work in practice everyone! See you all at the TECHNO Meets this week. It should be exciting. Remember if there are any parents that would like to help out please let me know.
