RSA Hires Executive Director
he Raleigh Swimming Association is excited to welcome Deanna Burkhardt to the RSA family as our new Executive Director. Deanna brings over twenty years of experience in the swimming and business world to RSA. After a long swimming career of her own Deanna continued on coaching, developing programs, and owning her own swim club in Texas, Indiana, Kansas, and Virginia. These years of experience of running all aspects of a large club will serve RSA well. Along with the full – time coaching staff, Deanna plans to grow and expand our club. Her job will follow two main avenues. One part will include heading up our Master’s program, developing a program geared toward home-schooled children, expanding our swim lesson program, and coaching our kids when needed. The other phase of her duties will be to help administer RSA fundraising efforts, organize our volunteers and market the overall program to the community at large. This hire is an important step in establishing RSA as the aquatic leader in the Triangle as we move forward in our new facility. Deanna is married and lives Apex. In the upcoming days, Deanna will post her office hours. She has already attended several practices, started working with the Masters program, and met many parents. Please take a moment to introduce your self, and welcome Deanna to our great program!

On Saturdays, they will be practicing from 11:30 AM-12:15 PM.

Starting to Get Cooler Outside- BRING WARMER CLOTHES TO PRACTICE!
Fall is upon us and it is starting to get much cooler outside. Please be sure to start bringing some warm clothes before and especially after practice. This means jacket, sweat shirt and pants. A hat or hood would be great to cover your wet head. Sometimes it can be hard getting back into shape after your are sick.

What to Bring to Practice
  • Dry land clothes- this includes running shoes, t-shirt, & shorts
  • swim suit
  • goggles (do not forget these because I do not have extra for other borrow)
  • towel
  • swim caps (this is optional, although I do think that girls with long hair really need to wear one)
  • FINS and a Fin Bag

TECHNIQUE FOR THE WEEK
Excellent job at the swim meet. Coach Brian, Coach Liz, and Coach Teegan were proud of your performance. Outstanding job! If you will be in town for Thanksgiving I highly reccommend that you try to attend practice. The practices this week are really geared to work on your technique and improve your endurance. The coaches will talk more about practices and the meet on Monday.

See you all at practice

Coach Brian
