WE WILL MISS YOU COACH ALEX!

I though I would let everyone know that Alex Ogden, one of our coaches will be leaving us. She has done a great job here at RSA in her second year. Alex has gotten a internship as a page in the United States Senate for a semester. This is a great opportunity for her and we wish her luck. Her last day will be Thursday of this week. Please wish her luck and thank her for her outstanding coaching.

Video Taping- THIS WEEK
Video Taping for ALL Minnows, Novas, Wahoos, and Dolphins will resume this Wednesday at Candler Swim Club. In order to be taped you must sign-up for a 7 minute block of time between 5:00 & 6:30 PM. Therefore, there will be no practice for Wahoos or Dolphins on this day. This is an excellent opportunity for swimmers to watch themselves in the water. A lot of the times they can really see what they need to improve on. We will tape only on Wednesdays and there will be no practice for all groups on Wednesday. Please be sure that you are on time to be taped. You need to arrive 5 minutes prior to your taping appointment.

Here is a schedule for the first two taping sessions.
Session II- Wednesday, January 21 @ Candler

Please note: You will not be taped unless you bring your own VHS tape

All swimmers must provide their own VHS Tape.

Please Note: All available spots for video taping spots have been filled for these first two sessions. Do not worry everyone will have the opportunity to be taped. I just need to get some solid dates dates down so I can put up more sign up sheets. Please be on the look out for the next few session dates.

TECHNIQUE FOR THE WEEK
Excellent job starting the season off at the January Jubilee swim meet. I thought many of you had some outstanding swims and made some big break throughs. Now we move on again to some pretty big swim meets for our team. The first is qualifier followed by 14 & Under State Champs. These meet our both great opportunities to gain experience in some big meets. We will continue to work on the same things that we have focused on all year.

#1 OUR TECHNIQUE IN THE WATER: This is the main focus for us throughout the season. Sometimes you can loose focus of what is the most important thing for swimmers this age, which is how to move most efficiently through the water. Improving technique will improve how fast you will go in the swim meet. Please try to keep that in mind throughout practice during the final meets of the short course season. It is also important that you concentrate on each of the drills. Drills are not meant to be swum fast. Take your time and do them correctly! ALL GROUPS will continue to work on all four strokes, along with the fastest easiest way to improve your times in races, which are starts, turns and good solid finishes. When working on these it is also important to concentrate and listen to the coaches during practice.

See you all at practice

Coach Brian
