A Great Final Day For RSA At Capitol City!
by Dan Flack 2003-06-18 11:09:00

In the afternoon session, Teresa Long continued to be a force in the 11-12 girls age group, winning the 50 free, 100 breast and the 400 free. Her 400 free is a new RSA team record! Ollie Clayton Luce and Neville Cross went one two in the 9-10 boys 50 free. Jonathon Keltner placed first in the 11-12 boys 100 fly with an awesome time drop! Brandon Bryan swam great, placing 2nd in both the 9-10 boys 50 breast and 100 fly. Elizabeth Farmer placed 2nd in a very fast 11-12 girls 100 fly. Nina Mascia cruised to a 2nd place finish in the 9-10 girls 50 free. Zach McGinnis split a beautiful 400 free for 2nd place in the 11-12 boy’s 400 freestyle. The relays were great as RSA swept first place in all the relays Sunday afternoon. The winning 9-10 girls 200 free relay was Cathleen Pruden, Brianna Bryan, Kellie James and Nina Mascia. The winning boys 9-10 relay was Sean Lanier, Brandon Bryan, Neville Cross, and Ollie Clayton Luce. The winning 11-12 girls relay was Teresa Long, Mary Zaytoun Lanier, Elizabeth Farmer, and Kelly Blake. And, the winning 11-12 boys relay was Zach McGinnis, Jimmy Kane, Andrew Neri, and Jonathon Keltner. Coach’s Billy and Larry were extremely pleased with the way the kids swam the races and executed proper technique!

The evening session unfortunately was cut short by weather, but before the rain came RSA swimmers got down to business. Kassia Shishkoff got it going by winning the 13-14 girls 100 free, with Blair Cross taking 3rd. Stephanie Glover placed second in both the senior 100 free and 200 back, while Scott Dettloff and John Hudson swam 2nd and 3rd in the senior 100 free. Michelle Dettloff was 3rd in the 200 back for 13-14 girls.

Overall a productive weekend and great total team effort! On to Bolles, Qualifier, Sectionals, JO’s, Zones, and Senior Nationals!
