RSA's Annual Swim-A-Thon Fundraiser Is Open: Join the Fun As We Celebrate RSA From the 1960s to the 2020s!

Laura Hubbard

Dear RSA Families:

RSA’s annual fundraiser, 2024 Swim-A-Thon: The Decades Tour, launched on National Giving Day. If you are wondering about Swim-A-Thon, here is a FAQ.

What is Swim-A-Thon?

Swim-A-Thon is a USA Swimming approved fundraiser that benefits RSA, the USA Swimming Foundation, and the Boys and Girls Clubs serving Wake County.  The goal is to raise money in two ways:

Why does RSA host a Swim-A-Thon?

Swim-A-Thon is RSA’s annual fundraiser that gives RSA’s athletes the opportunity to recognize the importance swimming plays in their lives by participating in a vitality important component of RSA’s fundraising efforts. This year our goal is to raise $50,000 to help RSA continue to innovate and provide truly exceptional programming to our athletes.

Who is invited to participate in fundraising?

All RSA athletes, from the youngest Tarpon to Senior Gold. We need your help to meet our goal.

When is Swim-A-Thon?

Fundraising for Swim-A-Thon has started!  Fundraising will continue through May 25th. Each month will be filled with prizes and incentives. Monthly, the highest male fundraiser and the highest female fundraiser will win some Arena gear, in addition to weekly raffles and special practice group challenges.

Where does it take place?

Fundraising is virtual. We will celebrate meeting (and hopefully exceeding) our goal on May 18th with a carnival-themed event, including food trucks, pool floats, games, and prizes.  And the return of the Deep Pool Bull Rides! Each swimmer must raise $100 to gain entry to this exclusive event.

Do the athletes earn prizes?

Athletes can earn individual prizes, as well as group prizes. Individual prizes include incentives from RSA, as well as incentives from USA Swimming. RSA prizes include:

  • A duck for raising money for Swim-A-Thon
  • A friendship bracelet for raising $100
  • A chance to pie a coach on Pi Day for raising $200
  • And much more…

What sort of prizes do the groups get?

  • If your practice group raises $1,000, they unlock the doughnut incentive. RSA provides doughnuts for the practice group.
  • If your practice group raises $2,000, your coach will spin the Wheel of Misfortune.

Those are just a few of the many prizes to come!  Join the fun as we celebrate RSA from the 1960s to the 2020s while raising money to continue the Legacy.

If you would like to volunteer on the Swim-A-Thon Committee, you would like to sponsor the event, or you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at [email protected].
